Context
The shop runs more than 40 CNC machines across three shifts. Output was written in a logbook at the end of each shift and typed into a spreadsheet the next morning. Supervisors only ever saw yesterday's progress.
What we did
- Production orders are generated directly from sales orders, with material norms and routing.
- Operators open and close machine sessions on a tablet on the floor.
- Output is verified at three levels: operator, team lead and QC.
- Every defect is linked to a machine, shift and material lot.
Results
Supervisors see the progress of each order in real time. Closing shift output no longer depends on paper logs, and when a defect appears the QC team can trace the cause in minutes.
